Day 13- November 15th

Yesterday was the best day of all! School was like every Friday every, went by really fast. During the last 30 minutes of English we had a "going away party" which really just consisted of eating brownies and watching youtube videos which was perfect! The day went by so fast and it didn't even feel like it was my last day! I knew I was coming back to the school for Noche Puertorriqueña so it must not have hit me yet! We went back to the girls house and changed into normal clothing for the Cheesecake Factory! I forgot to mention that I wore their uniform today! It was actually sort of fun(: I straightened my hair and tried to look nice for my last day!

Anyway, after we changed, we went to the Cheesecake Factory with Julian and Mariola. I've never been there and I was never a big fan of cheese cake but the pasta was really good and the cheesecake that I got, the Smores kind, was delicious! The girls told the waiters it was my birthday so they came out singing happy birthday to me in Spanish. Now that was embarrassing! Especially because it was not even close to my birthday ;) It was a really fun last dinner in Puerto Rico! After we ate, their grandma and Miguel took our table to eat so Julian's brother gave us a ride to CPS to go to Noche Puertorriqueña. When we got there the auditorium was full so we had to sit on the floor! It started out with a dance and then would alternate between a live performance and videos that the students made. Even though they were all in Spanish, I could understand a lot of it and I could tell they were funny by the way they were being told, plus everyone else was laughing! They ended it was a group playing the drums, singing, and dancing which was really cool to watch! I loved every second of it! At the end, we had to leave so saying goodbye to everyone was the hardest part. I didn't cry per say but it was getting there. Everyone was so nice to me and it's sad that I could only stay for two weeks! I won't be able to see these awesome friends that I've made for a really long time, if not ever again! Just thinking about it makes me sad!

After we said goodbye, their dad took us to get our stuff and then to his house. I slept on the trundle in Gladys's room and she told me this morning that I was really cold and curled up in a ball so she gave me some of her blankets!! I made her bed for her because it's the least I could do and she came up to me and said "Who gave you permission to make my bed!?" It was very funny. We are about to eat breakfast now and I can't believe I got to the airport in two hours. I don't want to leave! It's been an amazing trip and I'm so grateful to have this experience! While I miss my friends at home, I will miss the friends that I made here a lot! Goodbye Puerto Rico ):

Days 11 and 12- November 13th and 14th

Yesterday was a pretty uneventful day. We woke up, went to school and had the normal classes and the girls didn't have anything going on after school. The class that we didn't have media production so it went History then Math then snack then Chemistry then Mythology then Spanish and then English. In Mythology we watched the beginning of the Avengers because why not! That's one of my favorite movies so I was pretty excited about that. I was quoting the movie for most of the time and Pedro, one of the boys in that class, was pretty amused by it. In English, the class decided that on Friday (tomorrow) they are going to have a go away party for me. Ah that makes me sad! I don't want to leave! Here some pictures from Wednesday:

Our daily drawings

Roberto fell asleep while "reading".                                                Thursday was the Poe-fest!

Side shot of their school
Look at how ridiculously good Stephanie's drawing is.

This morning I woke up and was really tired for no reason! I even went to bed at 9 last night! I must miss my bed a little bit ;) Anyway, we went to school and the first class was Math with a test. Then after that was Chemistry with a Mini Quiz and review for the test that will be first period tomorrow! I can't believe today was my second to last day at Commonwealth. It hasn't even registered to me yet! It's crazy and makes me sad): I feel so lucky to have gone here in the first place though! It has been an amazing experience and tomorrow will be very sad.

Today for mythology, the kids had to dress up like Norse gods and the costumes were really fun! I love that they were required to dress up for a project, it made it fun and exciting :) The 9th graders also had their Poe fest today so I got to go see that. They showed videos that they made and there were games that some how related to Edgar Allan Poe. It was really cool! I got to go down and see that during English class. Then in media production we finished filming the PSA and almost finished editing it! There are a lot of fun projects that the students get to do here that are creative and cool!

After school, Gladys had a doctors appointment that I went to while Stephanie and Sophia went to the orthodontist. We didn't get home until around 4 and ate right away. Then Sophia made me an oreo milkshake (which I drank way too fast!). It was really good though! Tonight is the last night I will be sleeping in this house because tomorrow we will be going to their dad's house! We are planning to stay up late and watch movies for my last night in Puerto Rico! Also at their school it's Noche Puertorriqueña and I'm really excited to see what that's like! Here are my pictures for today!! Until tomorrow :)

Day 10- November 12th

Today was awesome! I can't believe I only have three days left ): It makes me sad just thinking about it! Nothing extremely special happened today but I've made some really good friends here and I will miss them extremely when I leave. Anyways I woke up today a little late and was rushing to get ready in time. They make sure to eat breakfast here every morning and I never really have time to do that at home. It gives me more energy in the early morning to enjoy the school day! The first class they we had was Media Production. They have a video due friday where they have to make a public service announcement. I'm in one of the groups and we are making a video about how drugs are bad. I'm a body guard and a lawyer. I'm excited to see how it turns out!

After media production, we had history. The class is learning about Hawaii and how the United States took it and made it a part of our country. It's really interesting and I'm learning a lot that I didn't know about it before! I honestly didn't know that it was taken by force and there was a monarchy in place before. I don't know what I assumed it was like before, but that fact surprised me!

In the schedule, after the first two classes, there is a snack time. You can hang out with friends and eat food, but sometimes there are meetings. Every friday they have a class meeting and last week they talked about community service requirements. After that there are two more classes and then lunch. The class before lunch is the long period. After snack was math. They are working on factoring which I find strange since they would have already been over all of that in Algebra 1 and some in Geometry. Then we had Chemistry, which was a lab. The lab was over Physical and Chemical changes which we covered a long time before they did. The teacher says that she likes to skip that Chapter and come back to it because she doesn't think there is a reason to spend so much time on it. The lab was fun and I did it with Daniella, one of the girls in the class!

After lunch was Mythology. There was a quiz today and I think I did fairly well on it (I've been taking the quizzes because why not!). We are learning about the Norse Gods like Thor and Loki so tomorrow they are watching the Avengers! I'm excited to watch it because it's one of my favorite movies of all time! Then on thursday all the people in the class are dressing up like the Norse Gods! I'm going to take a lot of pictures :)

The last class of the day was Spanish. It has gotten easier to understand but I'm not able to do very much in it! They were working on an outline today and in the last class, so I did not have the material to know what was going on.

After school Sofia had to stay after to record a video so I mostly hung out with one of the boys there named Roberto while they recorded. He's funny and a goofball and reminds me of my friends at home!

Instead of going with Sofia and Gladys to their piano, I went with their grandma and Miguel to his swim class. He's so adorable! After that we went back home and I ate dinner by myself while Miguel got a bath. I've been surrounded by people for the past 10 days so it was sort of nice just to have 15 minutes to myself.

I'm now in their art room blogging and watching National Treasure 2! What a classic :)  Only 3 more days at Commonwealth ): It's going to be sad leaving!! Anyway, Here are the pictures from today (: Night!

Daniella and our chemistry creations!

During Mythology class, I sat in Jorge's seat and he was little upset. Above is Paola and Pedro.

Above and below its a photo shoot for the video Sophia was making! The other Sophia in her class and other Paola! Haha.

 Careful Sophia!
