Day 1- November 3

The day started off pretty early. I had to wake up at 5:30 to make it to the airport on time. When we got there, my mom and I went through security and walked to the gate. Of course, when we got there, we received an hour delay for my flight so we had to sit and wait to board. They were missing one of the pilots (maybe he forgot to set his clock back for daylight savings). I was really worried about my connect flight because it took about a half an hour off for me to get from one gate to another. When I was sitting in the airport I got really nervous and excited at the same time. In less than 12 hours I would be meeting my host family, experiencing a new city, and starting my two week "adventure". I'd never been on my own before this and while it's exciting and new its also very scary and intimidating. I knew I was going to have a lot of fun, but it was going to require a lot of independence!

The first flight was smooth. It only lasted a little while and I slept for most of the time anyways. I overheard that many people were going to San Juan as well, but for a cruise, so when we got off the plane I just followed them. I stopped to buy lunch and ended up eating it on the plane a little later! Mmmm, a turkey sandwich. When I got off the plane, I headed to luggage claim and called one of my host sisters (Stephanie). I soon found them waiting out side with a sign with my name on it. It was very exciting!! They speak basically fluent English and while I'm sad I won't get to practice my Spanish as much, I'm relieved that I will know what's going on!

Here's a picture from the plane as I am getting closer to Puerto Rico!

Their dad picked me up and we drove to their mom's house. It's so big here! I'm hoping to post pictures soon when it's not an awkward time to just walk around and take pictures of their house! It's really nice and open and modern. The girls each have their own room but Sophia is letting me stay in her room while I'm here.

The first thing I ate here was steak, beans, and rice and it was very very good! There fridge is full of snacks and they have tons of candy which makes me very happy! All three of the girls are so nice, and their little brother is adorable! I'm so excited to be here. It's going to be nerve-wracking tomorrow going to a school where I only know three people but it will be good after the first couple days! All three of the girls are in the honors classes so I'm excited to see how they go. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to come up to me and start asking me a lot of questions and I will be very confused! But hey, it's so worth it.

I'm now sitting in Stephanie's room typing this because it is the only bedroom that gets wifi. The girls have a history quiz tomorrow so they are studying while I work on this. I'm really tired from my flights but too excited to fall asleep yet. I can hear the crickets and birds and whatever other animals that are outside right now. It's really really nice here and I can't wait to stay here for two weeks! It's going to be a lot of fun!!

These are pictures of their house (it's so nice here!)

Sofia doing some homework.

This is the room I'm staying in (Sophia's room).
